Firstly sorry for not being posting for the past few days, I have not been on great form. In fact no, I have been sitting in a darkened room with a pillow wrapped round my head swaying back and forth, but that is another story.
Well yesterday morning I was laying in bed when I heard a pecking at my window, nothing uncommon there, I live on the edge of the Chiltens loads of wildlife around.
Then there was a fluttering!
As I sleep with my curtains closed I thought nothing more about it, rolled over and tried to get back to sleep. Then the flapping happens again, but this time I see the curtain moving. A young Magpie had managed to get in through the window and was now trying to fly through the glass to get out again.
This was at around 5:30 in the morning. I was not happy. Giving the bird 10 minutes to try and calm down and or find it’s own way out I go off and have a cup of tea.
10 Minutes pass
I walk back in and he or she is still there, still frantically trying to get out, well it is now time to take action, I walk back into my kitchen and get a get a small tesco’s reusable bag (other reusable bags are available).
Now I don’t know if you have ever tried to catch a bird with your hands but it is not easy, luckily
it did not have too much space so after a couple of attempts i caught it and put it in the bag, took it out onto the balcony and slowly opened. The Magpie walks out slowly then flies off.
All I had to do then was clean all the bird crap off my window and window sil.
