Most people who have dedicated servers for hosting their site are wasting their money. These servers have an easy life, never being taxed and generally just ticking over, the majority of their resources never being utilised.
Until a short while back there was no option but to go for a dedicated server once you out grew shared hosting, or if you needed root access to configure your hosting environment the way you wanted.
VPS technology has removed that barrier and allows you the best of both worlds, the flexibility and control that dedicated server allows you at a fraction of the price.
How does this work?
VPS software technology basically sections a dedicated server into separate mini servers (or Virtual Private Servers). We call these VE’s (Virtual Environments). Each VE runs a completely self contained distribution of Linux. So if one VE owner logs into their VPS, they will be completely unaware of other users in their VPS.
This is a fantastic way to make sure physical servers are not under utilised. It reduces the cost for the VE owner as they get all the benefits of a true dedicated server like full root access.
You can reboot the VPS whenever you wish. You can start and stop services. You get your own fixed IP address. You can modify system configuration files. Its a great system and we are proud to be able to offer you this service today.
